Our 11/16×24 TPI silencer adapter meets the growing demand to transform this rather rare thread into more common ones. You can then mount the sound moderator or muzzle brake of your choice on your rifle.
Today, the 11/16×24 TPI is often found on large-calibre lever-action rifles. 44 Magnum, .45-70 SPRG, .45 LC… We’re naturally thinking of Ruger’s recent Marlin productions (the Dark Series, for example), but also the Smith & Wesson 1854. Nor should we forget ARs in .450 Bushmaster caliber, which generally use this thread as standard.
So why do we find 11/16×24 TPI on these guns? And not a more common thread? There are two complementary reasons.
- Firstly, the use of 11/16 leaves more material on the threaded barrel, which is appreciable for its solidity at the muzzle.
- Secondly, this thread acts as a deterrent for the user, who cannot mount a .45 ACP silencer on a .45-70 ignoring the difference in pressure between the two ammunitions.

Insiders will have noted that the first two are quite common for European-made handguns. So why haven’t we made an 11/16×24 TPI to .578×28 TPI silencer adapter (the American standard for .45 ACP)?
The answer is quite simple: .578×28 TPI has a minor diameter too close to the diameter of the warhead concerned. As a result, a .578×28 TPI adapter bored to 12 mm (.47″) would no longer be thick enough to withstand firing pressure, and would break. That’s why we’ve only selected output threads with a larger minor diameter. Converting, yes, but without risk.
