Which silencer to choose for a Steyr AUG ? Start by converting its thread!
The Austrian Steyr AUG assault rifle has been a legend since the 1980s, and it is still produced today. It has experienced many variations. But a parameter remains to this day a problem for silencer lovers : the strange threading of its muzzle. What is the thread size of a Steyr AUG ? It’s M13x1 LH, also known as M13x1 Left Hand, or metric 13×100 Left depending on conventions. So in order to screw on a common muzzle device, you will need our silencer adapter for Steyr AUG. It will convert it to a more common standard: 5/8×24 TPI, M14x1, M18x1…
Therefore you will be exempt from finding a flash hider or a muzzle brake in M13x1 LH. Instead you will have access to the wide range of suppressor available on the market. Expanded compatibility with a wave of a magic wand … and our thread converter.
Note that the length of the standard thread thus generated is 15 mm, which opens the door to a wide range of muzzle devices. Choose the output thread in the drop-down menu to the right of the image.
The silencer adapter for Steyr AUG: an easy installation
If you look a little closer at the muzzle of a Steyr AUG, you discover a pretty exotic arrangement. The original thread is long and has a double shoulder. It is covered with a smooth jam nut with two side flats. The original flash hider then screws on the remaining M13x1 LH thread available, until it stops on this jam nut.
The silencer adapter for Steyr AUG is intended to replace the flash hider, but it will also need the stop jam nut. It is therefore important not to remove this jam nut from your barrel. Our adapter can cover up to 12 mm (0.47″) of M13x1 LH thread, but no more. If you unfortunately lost your jam nut, or if the gun did not have it when you acquired it, contact us.
A high-quality custom part
We machine this silencer adapter for Steyr AUG in a XC38 steel, also known as C35. Each part is produced on CNC machines. We carefully control the dimensions after each manufacturing step. This ensures perfect concentricity and nice finish.
To facilitate hand screwing and unscrewing, we knurl the outer diameter of the adapter oblique. Each adapter then undergoes a hot bluing performed by a specialist in industrial surface treatment (also French).
