Why protect the barrel thread ?
This extended barrel thread protector for 1/2 UNF or 1/2 UNEF covers the thread of your weapon when no accessory is mounted on. It is then prevented from shocks and damages that could affect it during transport or cleaning. Thus the thread of your rifle or pistol will remain usable for a long time. It will keep its concentricity and usefulness intact.
We strongly advise against leaving a silencer mounted on a firearm after the shooting session. Condensation could then occur inside the suppressor, quickly leading to corrosion. The thread of the weapon is therefore regularly vulnerable and it is important to protect it. If your threaded weapon was delivered without a barrel thread protector or if you lost it, here’s the answer.
For what barrel thread is this barrel thread protector made ?
Here we are talking about extended barrel thread protector as it covers up to 17 mm of thread. For weapons that do not need such a length, we also produce a standard barrel thread protector. But in the case of some long guns like the Chiappa little Badger, the extended barrel thread protector for 1/2 UNF or 1/2 UNEF becomes indispensable.
1/2 UNF thread (also known as 1/2×20 TPI) is considered as standard in Europe for .22 LR weapons. On the other hand, the 1/2 UNEF (also known as 1/2×28 TPI) is considered to be standard in the U.S.A. for .22 caliber firearms in the broad sense (.22 LR, .223 Remington…). Depending on your rifle, choose one or the other from the drop-down menu next to the picture.
The extended barrel thread protector for 1/2 UNF or 1/2 UNEF : a neat one.
Since you will often screw and unscrew your barrel thread protector, you have to select a good quality one. This ensures a good thread preservation without abrasion or deformation. As a result, you will enjoy concentric mounting of your silencer and all your other barrel accessories.
We manufacture this extended barrel thread protector in France on CNC machines out of XC38 steel. It has a deep knurling to facilitate its grip without tools. A final bluing preserves it from corrosion to ensure its mission throughout the lifetime of your barrel.
