Description
Why should I protect my 1/2 UNF or 1/2 UNEF barrel thread ?
Often a firearm or an airgun has a thread at the end of its barrel. So it is essential to protect it when accessories are not mounted on with a barrel thread protector. Thus you prevent shocks that may occur during transport or use. In this way the barrel thread remains usable for a long time, concentric and with no play. But if some gun manufacturers provide barrel thread protectors out of the factory, some others don’t.
By the way, the barrel thread protector provided by the gun manufacturer can be poor quality, made of low-end material or simply lost. It is then important to replace it quickly, so as not to leave the precious thread vulnerable.
We strongly advise against leaving a silencer mounted on a weapon, at the risk that the air that stagnates in it generates condensation (and therefore corrosion). Users of sound moderators must actually free up their thread at end of each session, then it is important to protect it. This is where our 1/2 UNF or 1/2 UNEF barrel thread protector comes into play.
For what barrel thread is this barrel thread protector made ?
This barrel thread protector is intended for all barrels with threaded end in 1/2 UNF or 1/2 UNEF. Make your choice from the drop down menu before placing your order.
The 1/2 UNF thread is considered to be standard in Europe for. 22 LR weapons. But you can also find it on many airguns, or even on large caliber rifles. Sometimes we meet the 1/2 UNF thread under the name 1/2×20 TPI, a different designation for same thread.
The 1/2 UNEF thread is considered as standard in the USA for. 22 caliber weapons in general. This includes .22 LR rifles, but also assault rifles in. 223 Remington (AR15 and others). It is also sometimes referred to as 1/2×28 TPI, again the two names mean the same thing.
Be careful, if your .22 LR rifle is a European weapon, threaded in Europe (say a CZ 455 For example, or a Anschütz 1416) then there is a very good chance that it will be in 1/2 UNF. On the other hand, if it is an American gun threaded serial (like a Ruger American Rimfire or a Mossberg Plinkster for example), then it will more likely be in 1/2 UNEF (1/2×28 TPI).
Other than firearms and airguns, this barrel thread protector can also be suitable to protect the output threads of our adapters. It covers 10 mm of thread.
Beware, the internal diameter at the front of this thread protector is only 8.2 mm (.322″). It will not be suitable for weapons of a bigger caliber (9×19 for example).
How can I recognize a good barrel thread protector ?
First, it comes from a serious manufacturer like www.suppressor-thread-adapter.com. We make ours very carefully out of strong and durable material. It is an XC38 steel (also known as C35), which we machine on high-precision CNC machines. It is an XC38 steel (also known as C35), which we machine on high-precision CNC machines.
Our barrel thread protectors are then blued for optimal corrosion resistance. The black shade produced will also match your barrel. Their knurling enables easy screwing/unscrewing without tools. However, the precision of the internal thread provides a perfect fit with no play.
The spare part that makes the difference, to use your silencer or your muzzle brake with the same efficiency throughout the life of the weapon.
