The 5/8×24 TPI (also known as 5/8 UNEF) is the standard barrel thread in the US for .30 caliber firearms. It can be found on both Remington 700 rifles, Savage 10 and 110, and the Ruger Precision Rifle. In .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield or .300 Winchester magnum, this is a tradition. So if you have a standard threaded American rifle in one of these calibers (non-exhaustive list), there is a good chance that it will be threaded in 5/8×24 TPI.

Whereas in Europe, for .30 caliber (and approaching) sports and military weapons, the M18x1 is preferred. For example, it is the heavy barrel thread for Sako, CZ or Bergara. So it’s only natural to find mostly M18x1 suppressors on the old continent.
