.22 LR is undoubtedly the most suitable caliber for recreational shooting. It is cheap, easy to shoot and easy to make silent. But for this last point, it is still necessary to have a weapon capable of receiving a suppressor. Some are as soon as they leave the factory, but for others a helping hand is needed. After the silencer adapter for Walther P22 and the silencer adapter for Ruger SR22, we’re now addressing another plinker. So here’s the silencer adapter for Smith & Wesson MP22 Compact.

This thread converter will allow you to use a 22 LR suppressor in 1/2 UNF or UNEF. It’s up to you to make your choice when you place your order. As a reminder, the 1/2 UNF (also known as 1/2×20 TPI) is the standard thread of .22 LR weapons in Europe. On the other hand, the 1/2 UNEF (also known as 1/2×28 TPI) is the thread of .22 caliber weapons (in the broadest sense) in the USA. So choose yours based on the silencer you already have, or the one that will be easiest to find in your country.

How does this custom accessory fit in?

The female thread is screwed to the end of the barrel of your pistol, inside the slide. To set it up, you just have to pull the slide rearward and lock it. You will then discover a thread protector covering the host thread.

Unscrew the original thread protector, and replace it with our silencer adapter for Smith & Wesson MP22 Compact. You will then have a male thread protruding from the slide, ready to receive your muzzle device.

To make tightening easier with a wrench, the body of our silencer adapter has a 5/8″ (16 mm) hexagonal profile. Once the adapter is in place, it can stay on your handgun permanently. When you’re not using a silencer, just remember to cover it with a barrel thread protector to avoid shocks.

Silencer adapter for Smith & Wesson MP22 Compact compatibility

Smith and Wesson markets two types of Military & Police 22 LR pistol. MP22 full size (with 10 or 12 rounds magazine) and MP22 Compact.

► Full size MP22s are manufactured in Germany by Walther and have an M8x0.75 thread.

► MP22 Compact are manufactured in the US and have a 3/8×24 TPI thread.

The silencer adapter on this page will only be compatible with the second type : the Smith & Wesson MP22 Compact. So make sure your weapon does NOT have the “Carl Walther ULM/DO” marking on its right side.

This adapter will also work to convert the threading of the MP22 Compact threaded barrel that Smith & Wesson sells under reference 10199. Thus the European user will be able to switch from 1/2×28 TPI to 1/2×20 TPI in a snap.
